Hello! And welcome to my small corner of the internet. I find great joy in growing and harvesting medicinal herbs, cycling, drawing and spending time outdoors with my family. This blog will capture my process as I work to become a registered herbalist, as well as my adventures in creating a culture of cooking (and what that means) for my small family. Currently I live in central Edmonton with my husband, son and goldendoodle, but I dream of a large garden in the country as well as traveling and documenting herbalism and food culture around the world.
Herbal Education
My herbal education has been wide and varied, but has included a lot of self study through reading and listening to podcasts and lectures. More formal herbal practice has been apprenticing with a flower essence practitioner on Vancouver Island, working as a group through Rosemary Gladstars ‘The Art and Science of Herbalism’ program, studying with the EastWest School of Herbalism in their Professional Herbalist program (still ongoing) and apprenticing with 7Song at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine. In addition to this, I have spent years working in environmental education in provincial park settings, getting obsessed with native plants and fungi, and I’ve also completed my Permaculture Certificate with Starhawk and Charles Williams. I’m currently also finishing up a masters thesis in Anthropology, studying the impacts of extractive industry on the edible and medicinal plants of Bigstone Cree Nation members.
Follow my progress as I inch my way towards a more deliberate and herb filled life!
